What is DocXpress?

You can use DocXpress Document Delivery Service to:

  • Request a PDF copy of an article from a journal that is not available through Lane Library
  • Borrow a physical book that is not available through Lane Library. We cannot borrow eBooks from external libraries.
  • Request scans of an article or book chapter from print resources that Lane Library owns

Most services are free of charge for Stanford Medicine affiliates. This page includes information about how to create a DocXpress account and make a request. See more detailed policy and service information on the DocXpress website.

DocXpress business hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, excluding holidays. The average turnaround time for normal PDF requests is usually 1-2 business days. For rush and urgent patient care requests, We will do our best to obtain articles as quickly as possible, usually the same day. This service is not available on weekends. Books usually arrive in 1-2 weeks. You will receive an email notification when the book has arrived at Lane Library and is ready for you to pick up.
